Hill Hiking

May 4, 2014

The Hills took to the mountains this past Saturday. (See what I did there?) But, really, husband and I, along with husband's brother, his wife, and their twins, filled up on breakfast and traveled 40 miles southwest to hike. The particular mountain we hiked is in my hometown, yet after 24 years this was my very first time hiking to its summit. Talk about not taking advantage of the things right at your fingertips. But, I made up for it on Saturday with some of my people.

The hike itself was beautiful and full of new life; the trees were sprouting the beginnings of green leaves, flowers poked through the brown leaves from last fall, and butterflies fluttered about catching the breeze. Once at the top of the mountain peak, we settled in on a rock and enjoyed a much deserved picnic lunch while taking in the view of the town stretching out below us. It was pretty neat to see my little hometown in one glimpse. For the trek down the mountain there were songs accompanied by the handclaps of sleepy babes. The hike was good, the view was incredible, and the company was the best!

Stay tuned for another tidbit about this hike in the next few days! It might just include some film footage...
