Oh Baby! || Week 24

September 8, 2015

This last week really flew by! And I have a feeling the rest of this pregnancy will do so too. I have to admit that sometimes it's hard to completely love every moment of carrying a baby. While it's one of my biggest blessings, there are also a lot of feels about the whole thing. From life as we know changing to the bodily changes that take place just about daily. It's my goal to try to soak in this pregnancy more, to not take a bit of it for granted, even when my back is giving out and my feet are yelling at me to 'please sit down already'. So here's to approximately 16 more weeks, baby girl! We've got this!

How far along? In the 24th week

Baby's Size: A cantaloupe || approximately 12+ inches and anywhere from 16 oz to 20.8 oz

Gender: Sweet girl!

Baby Fact: Baby girl's see-through skin is gradually becoming more opaque, and it's got a pink glow due to the small capillaries that have recently formed

Weight Gain: I think I'm still hanging around the 10 pound mark according to the doctor's scale. My home scale is reading an 8 pound increase since my pre-pregnancy weight.

Baby's Movement: She's getting stronger and her movements are definitely more noticeable! My favorite is when she catches me off-guard with her wild dance moves, and I love when I can see her sweet wiggles through my belly. Husband has felt her a lot now and we love sitting together watching her move, creating ripples and punches in my stomach.

Maternity Clothes: I can squeeze into a couple non-maternity dresses (see the photo above), but everything else is out.

Sleep: I'm now sleeping with a king-size pillow in between my legs to help with comfort. I'm back to sleeping better (hallelujah!), but there are now TWO potty breaks every night. Baby girl is hanging out super low and I think she's become snuggle buddies with my bladder.

Symptoms: My newest symptom is a swollen left leg and foot. My right leg and foot don't seem to be on the swollen train just yet, but my left side sure is. My back is still achy, acid reflux when lying down is still a thing (girl must have some hair growing!).

Cravings: Icees and carbonated juice is all the rage for me right now. Something about that texture and fizz. And it can't be any icee, oh no. It's got to be a cherry flavored one from 7-11, because it's got the perfect texture. And thankfully, we've got a carbonator at home, so husband has been fizzing my drinks up! Sweets are also high on my list. I'm so healthy, can you tell?!

Miss Anything? The normalcy of what used to be my body.

Best Moment This Week: Getting the big items in the nursery all put into place. I could squeal, and I can't wait to share it!!

Worst Moment This Week: The Hokies lost. Okay, so it's definitely not the worst moment, and I certainly didn't lose any sleep over it. I just don't really have a worst for the week.

Looking Forward To: Our weekend plans!

How's Husband? He's had the best time getting little miss' room set up. On Saturday we installed some industrial shelving and he had so much fun with the entire project. I love seeing his excitement over little things for our girl. She's already loved a bushel and a heap by him, and I know they're going to have a very special relationship, which make my heart explode! And can I just tell you that seeing him with our friends' baby girl gives me all the feels about him and our nugget. It's going to be the sweetest :)

In case you missed it:
