Oh Baby! || Week 35

November 24, 2015

My girl, we are getting so very close to meeting and my mama heart could explode. We made it through our first Thanksgiving feast and you seemed to love it. However, I didn't get to eat near as much with the tiny amount of room I have left in there. That's okay, you're very much worth it! Your daddy and I are having to make some decisions about your birth, and it's causing me some anxiety. You are transverse and laying sideways right across my stomach; you're also facing out instead of my spine, which makes the likelihood of you turning all on your own very unlikely. So the doctors all think it's best that we give a try at turning you manually. That appointment is in the works of being set up. We pray that it works and doesn't bring you any distress. But, we're ready to make the call on scheduling a c-section if that's what is needed to meet you safely. Your health is our priority. But, if you get a hankering to turn yourself head down all on your own in the next couple of weeks, please help yourself :)

How far along? In the 35th week

Baby's Size: A coconut || approximately 17ish-19ish inches and anywhere from 4.2-5.8 pounds

Gender: Sweet girl!

Baby Fact: Baby girl's hearing is now fully developed, and she responds best to high-pitched noises.

Weight Gain: 26 pounds, and I'm expected to gain a half a pound until little one's due date.

Baby's Movement: She's still moving up a storm and mostly at night. She loves to ripple across my stomach with her head and belly. That's right, her head is to the right of my belly button, which means my girl is still transverse and hasn't moved into the head down position, not even close. That is causing me some discomfort when she decides to give me a big movement. And just this morning she stuck her legs so far out in my left side that I could feel the entire leg.

Maternity Clothes: I wish it was acceptable to wear sweatpants everywhere. At this point that and a floppy shirt is all I want to be in. Forget the tight stuff, forget the bra. Just give me comfort.

Sleep: I'm up to about two bathroom breaks a night now. Sleep is very intermittent and doesn't come easily, mostly because I can't find a comfortable way to lay. I typically fall asleep the hardest after my second run to the bathroom and just a couple of hours before I have to be up for the day. It's making my energy supply very sparse by mid-afternoon.

Symptoms: The acid reflux has been the one consistent symptom to worsen as the pregnancy goes on. It has gotten really bad over the last couple of weeks, and I know that if I lay on my right side, it's going to be horrible. TUMs aren't working nearly as well now. My hips and lower right back hurt daily now with the loosening and extra weight they are carrying. Swollen feet and ankles that are a result of me standing up for too long. And my face is officially getting that end-of-pregnancy puff.

Cravings: The thirst continues and I'm downing water and juice like a machine. Peppermint patties are at the top of my list for foods I want, as are clementines.

Miss Anything? Moving like I did pre-pregnancy.

Best Moment This Week: Watching baby girl react to her daddy singing very high-pitched, made-up songs to her (see the baby fact above). I'm not sure what I love more, their already blooming relationship or listening to husband's ridiculous songs.

Worst Moment This Week: Managing the anxiety I feel over the risks (although low) of having baby girl turned manually by the doctor.

Looking Forward To: Thanksgiving with friends and family!

How's Husband? He is so ready for our girl. And he's been such sweetness with me through the discomfort, aches, pains, and anxiety (over her birth). He's going to be an exceptional father, and our girl is so very fortunate to have him. She already loves the sound of his voice, responding with visible movements. My favorite was just a few days ago when husband kissed my belly and little girl fluttered against it. The look on husband's face was priceless.
