Thanksgiving Décor!

November 4, 2015

At this time of year, I hate to put away the festive Halloween decorations to wait several more weeks before I allow myself to put out the Christmas décor. Because let's be honest, the warm and cozy decorations of Christmas, a house that smells like balsam, and all the twinkle lights is where it's really at!

This year I struggled hard to find the right balance of Thanksgiving touches. So much so that I missed the window for perfect picture taking light because I procrastinated until the last minute to put something together. So I'm joining the link-up a bit late (darn you, daylight savings and days getting dark at 5:40 PM).

While I adore my fall décor, I don't quite feel like it has the right Thanksgiving feel. I know, I'm crazy, and I'm also a Type A perfectionist, which makes just settling not an option. Last year's transitional Thanksgiving decorations were headed in the right direction, but still not where I wanted to be. I thought I'd surely have it figured out this year, but alas I sure don't.

So after tweaking, rearranging, removing, adding back, etc. I have my Thanksgiving decorations out. While I'm not head over heels for the final turnout, it gives me room to expand upon next year. And let's be honest, I couldn't waste any more time trying to piece it all together!

Dried red beans are a great way to spruce something up, especially at their very inexpensive cost! If you're looking to fill an apothecary jar, cloche, or candle holder, I recommend giving this a try.

One of my new favorite decorations is this Indian corn I happened upon at Kroger a few weeks back. I tucked it away to pull out for Thanksgiving décor, and I couldn't be happier with it. Now I just want to know if it will preserve to be used in years to come or if it's going to mold and get yucky. Anyone know??

I'm the type of decorator that likes little pops of décor throughout. These acorns have been with me for three holiday seasons now, and they always find a home on my built ins.

I love this tree! It's been so fun to decorate and swap out items for the holidays and seasons. I plopped my glass pumpkins back on from the fall, added my small pinecones from last year, and finished it off with the pilgrims I found at Pier 1 last year.

Believe it or not, the dining room table gave me SO much trouble. I had an idea of what I wanted, but no specific vision. The latest issue of Southern Living was an inspiration when it came to the color runner I went for. They have a lovely spread where they pair cobalt and fuchsia and it's gorgeous. I have the cobalt, but lack in the fuchsia department, so I went with what I had.

I used the glitter mason jars with some greenery and picks, then painted my Halloween pumpkins white and put them on my antler candle holders to put the centerpiece together. Overall, I'm happy with its turnout, and I love the timeless look it gives.

And lastly, my fall wreaths. I love the bright red contrast in the dining room/kitchen area. It really brings a cozy feeling to the space.

Be sure to grab the button below and link-up with Rachel and I for this installment of the Every Girl Link-Up! I can't wait to scroll through everyone's Thanksgiving décor!

And don't forget, we'll be getting back together a week from today to share our Thanksgiving traditions, whether that be a great story, a yearly tradition for every Turkey day, or a fabulous recipe or two!
