TFF + The Pick No. 5

Friday, February 5, 2016
Happy Friday, friends! Who can believe that not only is it another Friday, but it's the first one of February?! I tell you, time is a thief, so we best enjoy as much of it as we can!

Thank you all for all of your input about a new commenting forum! I still haven't done any more research on it (#momlife), but that's on my goal list for next week! Speaking of lists, my to-do's are just not getting done lately. Greer has been changing SO much this week and her preferences are different from what they were just days ago. Needless to say, my girl comes first, so all those chores and activities have taken a back seat. That blog post on how we picked her name is still sitting, half-way written, in my drafts folder. Look for it next week. I'm hopeful to have it completed then! Now on to my thoughts....

T H I N K I N G  > I am so very ready for spring. The warmer weather, the budding trees, green grass, chirping birds. Yes, all things spring are definitely at the top of my want list. I can't wait to get out for stroller walks and whatnot with my girl. Just being able to go outside without bundling up is going to be perfection.

P O N D E R I N G > What we do about our couches. I've had them since I was a junior in college, and they are coming apart. They have served us well, but it's time for replacements. Last week I mentioned I slipcovers. That was a big ole' fail. Now we're trying to decide if we purchase new couches and from where. Since we're not in a permanent home, we don't want to get our dream couches just yet. But, we do want nice, solid, cost-friendly couches. Any suggestions?? We're thinking IKEA...good or bad??

N E E D I N G > A KitchenAid mixer. But that'll have to wait until I have several hundred extra dollars hanging around ;)

L I S T E N I N G > To the baby monitor. Not a peep from my girl, she's sleeping soundly (praise Jesus!).

D R E A M I N G > Of more sleep.

S W O O N I N G > Over the pink tulips that I got yesterday! Fresh flowers are so my love language, and I'd have them all of the time, in all rooms of my house if I could! I'm also swooning over our newborn photos that we got on Monday!

Happy Weekending! xo

  1. I am looking forward to the Instagram challenge! Your little one is just a doll-- to do lists with a new little one defintely take a hit but eventually they get done again. Have a great weekend!

  2. Our couches are on their last leg as well! I found the perfect couch for us on Labor day....rushed home to measure and when I returned it had been sold. I was sick!! I still haven't found another I love as much that will work in our living space. Best of luck. Wishing you a sweet weekend full of snuggles with your girl.

  3. We also need new couches - I would also say to wait on your "dream couches" until after your kids are past toddler phase - ours have a nice coating of goldfish mashed with spilled apple juice if you catch my drift ;) Do you have Costco near you? They have some cute couches/good deals. I always like Ikea for stuff like that too. We got Lila's bed there and it's super cute and was cheap so I don't feel bad if she needs another one in a few years once she's bigger.

  4. Our couch is from Ikea and it has a chaise lounge on one end. I definitely DO NOT recommend one with the chaise lounge. The back cushion constantly pushes down, which pushes the chaise lounge cushion out. No matter how many times I fix it, it just keeps doing it. But the two normal cushions are just fine and perfectly comfortable! I want to chuck the one we have now and just buy a new one from there without the lounge part! What's also really nice about Ikea couches is they always stock the slipcovers that fit (not for chaise lounge ones...another downside) so you can change it if it gets stained or if you just want to change the color up!
