'Tis Halloween || A Weekend Recap

October 31, 2016

Happy Halloween! Husband and I are so excited to share in a first with Greer today. Sweet girl is in for a whole bunch of firsts over the coming months, and it makes my heart squeal with delight. The holidays and this season are all the better when you're sharing it with your little. Stay tuned today for our family costume! We'll be debuting it tonight.

Over the weekend we soaked in as much of the fall weather and Halloween festivities as we could. Saturday morning started slow, and with a longer-than-usual-nap for Greerzly (no complaints here!), husband and I used the time to get ourselves ready for the day, including packing things up for a day-trip to my parents' and putting together our costumes for the Shine Festival at church.

For this family Halloween costume, we decided to go as the Magnolia Team. Call me Jojo! Husband of course went as Chip, and Greer girl went as our #shiplap. If you didn't already know (no secret around here) I totally have a love affair with Fixer Upper and the Magnolia brand. From everything they embody and put out, it's all around an incredible business with stellar values and a God-centered message. We couldn't love the people and the company more.

If you're in need of a last-minute costume idea, this one is so easy. Dress your husband up like a contractor, tool belt and all. Print out the Magnolia logo and stick it on a vest. We bought their embroidered logo and baseball tee ahead of time. Dressing like Joanna is so simple (and so classic), just google her and throw together your outfit! For the #Demoday shirt and #Shiplap onesie, it's as simple as a fabric marker.

We just so happened to run into more Fixer Upper/Gaines fans. Because who doesn't love that sweet family and all things Magnolia?! Besides there's nothing cuter than baby shiplap and a mini Clint Harp. Just see for yourselves.

Then we ran into our favorite Ninja Turtles, Casey Jones, and April O'Neil. One of these days the seven of us are going to need one big family costume for Halloween!

She clearly got it from her mama. Also, note those chunky, little legs. It was hot on Saturday, much to my dismay. So we had to start stripping some clothes, and the pants came off first! The temperatures are supposed to be cooler today, though. Praise hands.

After Shine, we headed the short distance to my parents' to spend the day and get lots of time outdoors surrounded by the prettiest leaves. My parents pulled out my childhood wagon, and Greer ate it up. She was a little princess being toted around in her red wagon. To say it was adorable would be an understatement. Also, it's so wild to see your child in a wagon that holds so many childhood memories for my sister and me.

Nella, the family dog, is Greer's first experience with any dog. She's been hesitant (or maybe that's more me because once I moved away to college I developed allergies to animal hair), but this weekend she was all about the dog. She loved the doggie kisses, and would grunt at Nella to make her come close. I'm not much of a pet person, but I have a feeling I'll be asked for a dog of her own one of these days. The question is will I cave??

My  parents really do have a beautiful view of the mountains. The fall is spectacular from their front yard. We ended our day there with dinner before heading home.

Sunday greeted us with a nice surprise. Greer slept through the entire night. No early morning nursing. She slept straight through until 7:30. All the angels sang. And so did mommy and daddy. We skipped church for a few reasons 1. a teething baby (hello, top teeth) 2. husband needs to get his thesis done 3. house projects

We got quite a bit accomplished. Hallelujah! Our afternoon was full of some backyard enjoyment. The leaves are gorgeous and since they'll be gone shortly, we trying to really enjoy them. Especially in our new house.

Now I'm off to put some last minute touches on our costumes. Have a happy and safe Halloween! Catch me back here tomorrow to share our Halloween with you! xo
