Southern Flair || Dining Room Reveal

May 1, 2017

Happy, happy May! It's here! It's here! Not only has a new month arrived, but the time for the dining room unveiling has finally arrived too! Before we dive into the details, let me just tell you how smitten I am with the way it all turned out. The entire space is a dream, and I'm so very pleased with it all. I think it's my very favorite room in the house. From the southern charm to the floral details, this space has me all kinds of happy! Just take a look for yourself!

The room began to take shape as soon as the wallpaper was selected. And I find that true with any space; once you select the biggest design aspect, you can piece together the other details to make the room come together. Husband and I went back and forth between two different patterns from Brewster Home Fashions; one was more of a landscape while the other was gingham. Ultimately, the gingham wallpaper won out even though both were stunning. The gingham just fit more of my style and the aesthetic of our home. And it feels my southern-loving heart with complete joy!

p.s. stay tuned for a wallpaper how-to video coming soon to our Youtube channel!

Can we just talk about these flowers for a second? My neighbor's rhododendrons were blooming over the weekend, and he kindly let me snip a few to arrange. They are the perfect southern touch to the dining room. Their fullness and bright color is refreshing and simply lovely.

Outside of the wallpaper, once of my very favorite parts of the dining room are the prints by Belle Botanica. I knew I loved them as soon as I spotted them in her shop, but I fell that much harder when I saw them in person. After framing them and hanging them against the gingham backdrop, I was over the moon about them.

The botanical prints are a beautiful slate blue/gray on a textured canvas that adds to the charm of the room. I decided to go with large, matted frames because the wall on which they are hung is so wide, and I didn't want the prints to disappear on a big wall. The prints themselves are 11x14, and placing them in 16x20 matted frames, has really given them the backdrop to shine.

I jump at any chance for fresh florals and stems. There's something about their vibrance that adds a little more character to any room. Eucalyptus is easily my go-to for a white pitcher. Don't you love that bright green next to the wood, gingham, and slate blue?!

Oh, for the love of tobacco baskets. I can't get enough! They are the perfect southern detail in my dining room. Husband gifted them to me last Christmas, and they were my very favorite gift to open on Christmas morning. Hanging them on the gingham print made me SO giddy. How good is that combination?!

The dining room has come a long way since we bought the house last August. We added DIY wainscoting; painted all of the oak trim, baseboards, and vents white; painted the upper wall Waterloo Blue (you can see that here); and finally found our perfect fit with the Clair Grey Gingham Wallpaper. The space feels so much like us, and that feels phenomenal! It's light, fresh, and airy, the perfect combination for a dining room to fill with your people and great food!
