Every Girl Link-Up || Mocktails & Cocktails

July 16, 2015

This themed post in the Every Girl series was one I had been looking forward to. Because who doesn't love an excuse to combine an assortment of ingredients to make a fun, new drink? Well, this week has been a doozy to say the least and I never got around to trying out a new drink recipe. Fortunately, I had a sangria recipe from that one time I had a food blog, and because there are SO many different ways to make a good sangria (alcoholic and not), I thought this would be a fun recipe to share again.

As was the case last November, I could drink wine. So husband and I paired a white wine with a lot of seasonally fall ingredients for an Apple Cider Sangria. This year, I'm looking for alternatives to some favorites. And one great way to make this drink into the perfect mocktail is to swap the wine out for a sparkling juice. And honestly, the options are limitless. I think a white grape sparkling juice would be ideal for this recipe, but you could also go with apple if you want to double up the apple flavor.

  • What You'll Need
    • 1 bottle of Pinot Grigio
    • 3 cups fresh apple cider
    • 1 cup lemon-lime soda
    • 4 cinnamon sticks
    • 2 ambrosia apples, chopped
    • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
    • 1/4 cup pomegranate arils
    • 1 orange, sliced

  • What You'll Do
    • Chop the apples and slice the oranges. Remove the arils from the pomegranate. Set all fruit aside.
    • In a pitcher, combine the Pinot Grigio, apple cider, lemon-lime soda, and cinnamon. Stir well.
    • Then add the fruit and cinnamon sticks to the pitcher. Stir. Cover with saran-wrap and place in the fridge for at least an hour. The longer it sits the better!

While this may be a bit more of a fall drink, you could certainly substitute some of the fruit out to give it a more summery flavor. For another fun drink, check out my Pomegranate Fizzies (one of our absolute favorites)!

And of course be sure to head over to Floral & Fudge for another great drink recipe!
