Oh Baby! || Week 29

October 13, 2015

Baby girl you feel as though you have gotten SO big over this last week! I can't believe we are almost into the 30 week mark, feels like not too long ago we were announcing that you were on your way! Just the other day I was thinking about how much I'll miss the vibrant leaves swishing around on the trees when I was quickly reminded that the bare trees will be an indicator of how much closer we are to meeting you. I guess if I must lose the leaves, at least I get the greatest gift of all in exchange...you!

How far along? In the 29th week

Baby's Size: An acorn squash || approximately 17ish inches and anywhere from 2.5 to 3.8 pounds

Gender: Sweet girl!

Baby Fact: Baby girl is growing more fat deposits under her skin, and her energy is surging because of it, which means a much more active baby!

Weight Gain: 12ish pounds. I'll get a new number at this week's check-up.

Baby's Movement: I feel this girl move all of the time now. It's very rare that she has a moment of stillness. Her favorite is when I'm laying down on my back. She uses all the extra room to stretch out and roll around. She's big enough now that I can feel her on two sides of my belly at once. And when she decides to make a huge movement, I feel her all over.

Maternity Clothes: I recently bough an XL nightgown from Target, and I would live in it if that were acceptable at work. It's nice and flowy, doesn't constrict a thing, and makes me feel the most comfortable. At this point, I'm making what I have work because I'm so close to being out of the maternity clothes stage.

Sleep: I'm definitely more tired these days. However, sleep at night is a hit or miss, but mostly a miss. I have a million things on my mind (like to-dos), which I end up dreaming about and waking up in a slight frenzy over. Bathroom breaks are back, and in addition to that, baby girl now has the ability to wake me up with her strong movements. I think the era of deep sleep is coming to an end for me....

Symptoms: Swelling has gotten better and rarely happens now, indigestion/acid reflux (give me all the TUMS) flares a lot when I lay down, back aches persist as the belly gets larger, fatigue, and getting a deep breath on command isn't so easy. Lately, I've also taken on either the cold or a sinus infection, which has had me under the weather. I'm hoping the doctor can get me figured out later this week, because being sick while pregnant is for the birds.

Cravings: I'm still on the fruit train, especially if it's cold. Ice water and juice are my go-to's lately. Cereal is still very much a craving, and

Miss Anything? Belly sleeping; I've missed this one a lot!

Best Moment This Week: Cleaning up baby girl's nursery yesterday! Husband and I worked through all the gifts we had gotten at our first shower and put them in their place. Then we did the first load of her laundry. In between the scent of Dreft and the tininess of her clothes I was in heaven.

Worst Moment This Week: The cold/sinus infection ordeal.

Looking Forward To: Our last baby shower this week! My sister is throwing it, and I can't wait!

How's Husband? You should have seen him folding those tiny baby clothes yesterday. It was precious and surreal. Life is going to look like a lot of baby laundry shortly, in addition to a lot of baby cuddles, diaper changes, late night feedings, and so on. Husband is going to be a champ with all of it. He's got the amazing dad gene, and I'm so excited to see him in that role! Our girl is quite lucky to have him, and their bond is going to be something I treasure always.

In case you missed it:
